Update on Our New Fitness Routine

In my last post, I was telling you about Tilton's  and my decision to join a gym and get fit.  Well, so far we are very pleased with that decision! Yay!

I was able to make it to the gym SIX days the first week and FIVE days the second--I must admit, I was pretty surprised/impressed with myself!  I decided to choose Saturday as my "rest day" for those two weeks, being that it's football season and I have prior commitments to tailgating and all. :) Which reminds me that I have to tell you about the adorable and delicious treats I made for tailgating this weekend! But back to the update!

The first week I worked out on the elliptical machine each day.  It's one of those with the arms that move as you move, which I love because I feel like my upper body gets a little workout too. The second week I decided to switch it up and opted for the treadmill, which I surprisingly love more! I like using the machines because I can punch in my weight and age and it estimates the calories that I burn, which is awesome because I can actually "see" the calories melt away! It's a nice little number of encouragement when I feel like I want to give up. :)

Before we started our new fitness routine, Tilton and I weighed and measured ourselves.  We decided to "weigh-in" once a week,  on Monday mornings, and will take our measurements again at the one-month mark.  I am happy to report that after two weeks of eating healthy and working out, I am down a whole five pounds!! Woohoo! It's very encouraging for me, and I am hoping to continue down this positive path!  I will definitely keep posting updates on my progress--I feel  like it's a good way to hold myself accountable and maybe be an inspiration to someone else!

Until next time...

Easy-Peasy Teacher Appreciation Gifts

My little bits just finished up her first year of preschool (PS1) last week, and just started her second year (PS2) this week.  Her first year at her school was nothing short of amazing, and I'm so happy with our decision to start her in the program last August.  Her teachers for PS1 were the best, so I wanted to give them a little something to show our appreciation and gratitude for all of the love, time, and patience they poured into our girl over the past 12 months.  I wanted to keep it simple, and give them something that they could appreciate and actually use, and eventually decided on a small succulent arrangement and a Starbucks gift card.  Because who isn't obsessed with succulents and coffee  right now always?!? I put the succulent arrangements together myself, and I love the way they turned out!  I picked up the white planters at Hobby Lobby for around $5 each.  The succulents came from Home Depot (their selection was HUGE) and ranged in...

Foodie Friday: Carrot Cake Gone Clean

I think I’ve just died and gone to carrot cake heaven! And the best part? I get to devour this entire plate guilt-free, because it’s clean and on my nutrition plan! HELLLLLLS YEAH!    A fellow fitness coach friend of mine shared this yummy recipe in our virtual fit group, and I can't get enough of it!  It's clean, healthy, and oh so simple, which makes it perfect for a delicious pre- or post-workout snack.  It's packed with veggies, protein, and healthy carbs, so all of your macros are covered.  And BONUS... You can make it into muffins for a quick grab-n-go option!  Just when I think this plan can’t get any better, I come across treats like this one that change the game!  And t hat’s what I LOVE about most about my business and these fit groups--Not only can I  count on my ladies for support and encouragement, but it offers us a place to swap healthy recipes and share tips and tricks to stay on track.  Basically, what I'm trying to sa...

My Two and a Half Year Blogging Hiatus

Hey there!  It's been a while since my last post--two and a half years, but who's counting?  As it often does, life got a little crazy, and blogging got pushed to the back burner.  But I've recently had an itch to start writing again. So here I am. I've missed it. And a lot has changed in our lives since I last wrote.  So let me bring you up to speed... I got a promotion at work, and am now the pharmacy manager of a local retail pharmacy. My husband is working to make his dream of being a full-time photographer a reality.  He's insanely talented, and the fact that he's completely self-taught amazes me! You can check out some of his work HERE . I've taken up photography as well, under my hunky husband's guidance, and I now photograph weddings alongside him.   Our beautiful mess of a daughter is THREE years old (where did that time go???).  She is incredible, and smart, and funny, and her zest for life is inspiring. We added a fur-bab...
