Can I Have S'more of Those Please?

Happy Wednesday!  In my last post, I told you that I wanted to share a recipe for the most adorable and delicious treats that I made for a tailgating party a few weeks ago. So, here it is...

I found this idea on Pinterest (where else?), and immediately decided to make them for the tailgate party that weekend.  The pin on Pinterest linked me to Julie's post on "the family kitchen" which gave me the recipe and some awesome photos of the creation process and the finished products!

I altered my recipe slightly and skipped the "mix heavy cream with the chocolate chips" step.  And I'm not sure if they used semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, but my chocolate was not as dark as in their photos... I used milk chocolate chips in mine.

To create these delightful treats (based on my alterations) you'll need:

-1 bag of large/jumbo marshmallows
-2 to 3 cups of milk chocolate chips
-Small bowl of graham cracker crumbs (I didn't measure this out)
-Toothpicks or wooden skewers (I used toothpicks that I already had at home)

I melted the chocolate chips in the microwave according to the directions on the bag. While the chips were melting, I placed a toothpick in each of the marshmallows.  Once the chips were melted (being careful not to burn the chocolate), I dipped each marshmallow into the chocolate, completely covering the bottom half to two-third of the marshmallow.  Then I dipped and rolled the marshmallow around in the bowl of graham cracker crumbs to complete the s'more effect.  I placed the marshmallows on a piece wax paper so that the chocolate could set without the bites sticking to anything.

It is literally that EASY, and let me tell you, they were a total with the tailgaters!  I laid them out on the food table and they were completely gone in 5 minutes (no exaggeration)!  Everyone loved them!  It only took me about 15 to 20 minutes to make about 30 bites, so they are a perfect little treat to make on short notice or when you just don't feel like spending hours in the kitchen to make a dessert.

Here is a photo I snapped just minutes before the entire plate of bites was devoured:

What are your favorite party snacks and treats? I'm always looking for new recipes to take to parties and gatherings and would love to hear your ideas!

Until next time...

Easy-Peasy Teacher Appreciation Gifts

My little bits just finished up her first year of preschool (PS1) last week, and just started her second year (PS2) this week.  Her first year at her school was nothing short of amazing, and I'm so happy with our decision to start her in the program last August.  Her teachers for PS1 were the best, so I wanted to give them a little something to show our appreciation and gratitude for all of the love, time, and patience they poured into our girl over the past 12 months.  I wanted to keep it simple, and give them something that they could appreciate and actually use, and eventually decided on a small succulent arrangement and a Starbucks gift card.  Because who isn't obsessed with succulents and coffee  right now always?!? I put the succulent arrangements together myself, and I love the way they turned out!  I picked up the white planters at Hobby Lobby for around $5 each.  The succulents came from Home Depot (their selection was HUGE) and ranged in...

My Two and a Half Year Blogging Hiatus

Hey there!  It's been a while since my last post--two and a half years, but who's counting?  As it often does, life got a little crazy, and blogging got pushed to the back burner.  But I've recently had an itch to start writing again. So here I am. I've missed it. And a lot has changed in our lives since I last wrote.  So let me bring you up to speed... I got a promotion at work, and am now the pharmacy manager of a local retail pharmacy. My husband is working to make his dream of being a full-time photographer a reality.  He's insanely talented, and the fact that he's completely self-taught amazes me! You can check out some of his work HERE . I've taken up photography as well, under my hunky husband's guidance, and I now photograph weddings alongside him.   Our beautiful mess of a daughter is THREE years old (where did that time go???).  She is incredible, and smart, and funny, and her zest for life is inspiring. We added a fur-bab...
