It’s a GORGEOUS Saturday afternoon, and I can’t help but think about how beautiful, sunny days like this- when it's warm enough to break out the sandals but you don’t have to worry about melting in the heat-- are one of my favorite things! And of course, this gets me thinking about some of my other favorite things that I’m really enjoying right now. So I decided to share with you guys and maybe you might enjoy them too!
1. Living in a CITY again!-If you couldn’t already tell from my previous blogs, I’m in love with Louisville and can’t wait for spring weather to get out and explore everything that it has to offer.
2. Nude color nail polish-My favorite right now is “Shall We Dance?” by Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. You don’t have to use a base or top coat, and it lasts days longer than any other polish I’ve ever used!
3. Vegan meals on-the-go-I love the Gardein Trio Meals, which are meatless and completely vegan. The Burgundy Trio is my favorite! Check out their entire line of meals at www.gardein.com.
5. Painted Furniture-Kyle and I have purchased and painted two pieces of furniture for our new place-a coffee table for the living room and our bedroom dresser. We painted both pieces shades of blue and I’m obsessed with them! I'll post pictures of these soon.
6. Third Avenue Cafe-This place is amazing! It’s located on the corner of Third and Oak Street in Old Louisville, and has some of the most delicious food. I love it too because it has lots of vegan items on the menu-my favorite is the vegan potato salad. YUM! Check out their menu: www.thirdavecafe.com.
7. Make Up For Ever HD Powder-I purchased this powder at Sephora, before the wedding and fell in love with it! It gives your makeup a very finished, flawless look that you’ll love! Check it out at Sephora.com: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P210400&categoryId=C13402.
8. Hot water with lemon-I heat up a coffee mug of water, add a little lemon juice, and viola! It's a soothing drink that I enjoy in the morning, before bed, or just whenever I get the craving!
9. The new Forever 21 store in Louisville-Two stories of nothing but clothes, clothes, and more clothes! Need I say more?
10. Vegetable sushi rolls-I’ve never liked seafood, so I never even considered trying sushi, even before I decided to become vegan. But a few weeks ago I was introduced to sushi vegetable rolls…hello delicious! I could seriously eat this on a daily basis. Most of the rolls that I’ve tried consist of carrots, cucumber, and avocado, wrapped in seaweed and white or brown rice.
11. Matrix Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Balm-I started using this in hopes that it would help my hair, which has been destroyed by hair coloring and highlighting. It’s like a very thick conditioner and use it each time I wash my hair. It’s done wonders for my hair and I can’t imagine not having it now!
12. Groupons.Com-I’d heard about this website a few months ago, but have never taken the time to check it out. I finally decided to one day and love it now! It has awesome deals for discounts on many restaurants, fitness centers, beauty treatments, and just about anything else you can think of! It’s free to sign up, and you never know what kind of deal you might find! Take a peak at: www.groupons.com.
13. Sabra Humus in individually packaged servings-They are perfect to take to school or work for an afternoon snack or part of lunch. They are the perfect serving size and are delicious!
14. Bargain shopping and thrift stores-I’m obsessed with bargain and thrift shopping, and Louisville has more than enough shops to feed my addiction. I can’t wait to check them all out!
15. Wilbur, our super cute piggy bank-I saw this little guy at Home Goods and immediately decided that I had to have him for our new place! I loved all the colors and we make sure to “feed” him everyday! What an easy way to save!
16. TOMS Shoes-Mine are red and they are probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet! The best part about purchasing TOMS though, is that for every pair of TOMS that are purchased, the company will donate a pair of shoes to a child in need. It's called the "One for One" program. Check out the entire line of TOMS at www.toms.com.
17. Why Louisville Store-Located at 1583 Bardstown Road in Louisville, this is a store completely unique to Louisville. It’s full of cool Tshirts, knick-knacks, posters, jewelry, and unique gifts. If you ever make a trip to Louisville, this is one place you should check out! Or take a look at their website: www.whylouisville.com.
18. Reading BOOK-Currently I’m reading Eat. Pray. Love. By Elizabeth Gilbert. I saw the movie starring Julia Roberts and loved it. So I decided to give the book a shot. I’m enjoying the read so far and it’s definitely causing me to develop a traveling itch.
19. The Nest Magazine-I bought my first issue of it a few weeks ago and loved it! I’ve been on the TheNest.Com website, but there is just something I love about reading an actual magazine. It’s full of tips for newlywed couples from finances, to travel, to home décor, to planning a family. It really has something for everyone.
20. Kettle Brand Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper Potato Chips-Do not try these unless you are prepared to develop an addiction!
21. Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover-This is a book that Kyle and I both decided to read. He’s a little further into that I am, but it is extremely educational and informative and would be a great read for anyone. Dave Ramsey is one of the greatest financial minds and authors around, but his money managing tips are extremely basic and easy to follow. He definitely has a no-nonsense approach to managing personal finances and Kyle and I are learning how to build a strong foundation with what resources we have.
22. Little Black Dress Wines-I love the Pinot Noir and Merlot from this line. The great thing about these wines is that they taste amazing but are still on the cheaper end of the wine spectrum. You can usually get a bottle for around $9, which is awesome when you're on a budget. Another plus.. The bottles are adorable!
23. Mumford and Sons-I love their old-time sound and energy, and that was what first drew me to their music. And bonus… They are from London = British accents = I’m obsessed!
24. Organic SO Delicious Mini “Ice Cream” Sandwiches-These yummy little desserts are completely vegan and are the perfect sweet snack. They are about half the size of a normal ice cream sandwich but are just big enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.
25. Tarte Make-up Line-This is a vegan makeup line! That means no animal products are used in producing the makeup an none of the makeup is tested on animals! Of course I had to try it! So far I’ve purchased the makeup primer, bronzer, cream blush, and mascara and have loved each and every one of them. I think I’ve found my new favorite makeup! Check out the website: http://tartecosmetics.com.
So, there you have it... my top 25 favorite things... at least for right now! I hope that some of you will try them for yourself... I'm sure you love them just as much as I do!
Until next time...
