Getting Used to Louisville Life...

I finally decided that it’s been way to long since I’ve written…which makes me sad because when I decided to start a blog I was so excited about it and had a goal to write AT LEAST once a week.  But it’s crazy how busy I’ve been lately, and therefore haven’t had a free second to write.  I finally found some time… so here it goes…

We have been in Louisville for a little over a month, and absolutely LOVE it.  Our place is still slowly coming together… we are having to organize and decorate little by little.  I LOVE what we have so far and can’t wait until everything is finished and in its place… not only because I simply want it to be “completed” but because I can’t wait to have our families and friends over for dinner parties, and game nights, and any other excuse we can come up with to spend good times with our favorite people!   We only need a few more big pieces of furniture--dining room table, nightstands, TV stand-- and a few accent pieces to pull everything together.  I can’t wait!  I’ll be sure to post pictures as soon as everything is finished!

We’ve tried a few new restaurants since we’ve been here--Thai Siam, Third Street CafĂ©, and Avalon.  I’ve yet to be disappointed and can’t wait to see what else Louisville has to offer my appetite!  We’ve also visited a few of the parks around town, on the few days of nice weather we’ve had lately--Joe Creason and Cherokee Park.  Both parks have great walking paths, which Benny loves to explore!  We will definitely be making good use of these parks this summer!  We’ve also done our fair share of hunting through some of the COOLEST thrift stores looking for furniture and decorations for the new place!  Our favorite store for furniture is called “Seek and Find”.  The owner has some of the neatest stuff there and I never get bored looking at it all!  We also checked out one called “The Woodstock Shop” and “Junk in the Trunk”.  All of them feature vintage furniture and household items.. And I would highly recommend checking them out if you are into vintage styles!

The BEST part of being back in Louisville though is being so close to my family!!  I can’t even count how many dinners and basketball game viewings have been spent together and I’m loving every minute of it!  I really enjoyed living in the Lexington (most of the time)… But now that I’m back in Louisville and getting to spend so much time with family and friends here, I’ve realized how much I really did miss out on, and how much I missed spending time with everyone here!  But believe me…I’m making up for lost time!

I’m still driving to Lexington a few days a week for classes… but I only have a little more than a month and a half of that left!  My final exams are scheduled for the last week of April… And after that, I’m in Louisville for good! It’s hard to believe I only have a month a and half left of classes, but boy am I ready!  I’ll hopefully be transferring to a Kroger Pharmacy in Louisville to work, and Kyle is currently interviewing for jobs in here.  He will be starting classes at UofL in May…so he’s officially a CARDINAL now!  We definitely have a lot going on right now, but we are having so much fun!

Until next time…

Easy-Peasy Teacher Appreciation Gifts

My little bits just finished up her first year of preschool (PS1) last week, and just started her second year (PS2) this week.  Her first year at her school was nothing short of amazing, and I'm so happy with our decision to start her in the program last August.  Her teachers for PS1 were the best, so I wanted to give them a little something to show our appreciation and gratitude for all of the love, time, and patience they poured into our girl over the past 12 months.  I wanted to keep it simple, and give them something that they could appreciate and actually use, and eventually decided on a small succulent arrangement and a Starbucks gift card.  Because who isn't obsessed with succulents and coffee  right now always?!? I put the succulent arrangements together myself, and I love the way they turned out!  I picked up the white planters at Hobby Lobby for around $5 each.  The succulents came from Home Depot (their selection was HUGE) and ranged in...

Becoming a Runner: Week 4 Update

I now have 4 weeks of running under my belt, and I have to say that it feels amazing!   I made an improvement from my previous two weeks, and ran 4 days last week.   My goal was to run 5 days, and while I fell short of meeting that, I’m still so happy with my progress.   We were blessed with some AMAZING weather in Louisville last week, which definitely improved my mood and my motivation.   It was sunny and so much warmer, and running in 50 degrees is, without a doubt, easier than running in those freezing temperatures I ‘d been facing! Here’s what I did for Week 4 (January 11 – January 17): Day 22 (1.11.15): 2 mile jog <<Make up from Original Day 16, Supposed to do a 2 mile jog>> Day 23 (1.12.15): 1 mile jog, ¼ mile walk, 1 mile jog <<Make up from Day 17, Supposed to do a 1 mile jog, ¼ mile walk, 1 mile jog, ¼ mile walk, 1 mile jog>> Day 24 (1.13.15): Rest <<Supposed to do a 1 ½ mile jog, ¼ mile walk, 2 mile jog>> ...

Becoming a Runner: Week 3 Update

Week 3 of my 30-Day Running Challenge was similar to Week 2 in that it was not very exciting.   It’s been very cold here in Louisville—like, walk outside and you immediately freeze where you stand cold.   And because getting out of bed on time in the morning is a daily struggle for me, and I work 10+ hour shifts a day, my runs are limited to nighttime, when it’s blistering cold and all I want to do is crawl under a cozy blanket and cuddle with Tilton while watching our shows.   Needless to say, finding the motivation to run when I get home from work has been tough.   I’m doing my best to stick with it though.   During Week 3 (January 4 – January 10), I only ran 3 days again.   Bummer. Here’s what I did for Week 3: Day 15 (1.4.15): Rest (SICK) <<Supposed to be a rest day>> Day 16 (1.5.15): 2 ½ mile jog <<Make up from Original Day 12, Supposed to do 2 mile jog>> Day 17 (1.6.15): Rest <<Supposed to do a 1 mile jo...
