It’s crazy to think that Kyle and I have already been married one whole year. Yesterday we celebrated one year of wedded bliss in the best way ever… spending the whole day relaxing , just the two of us. It was absolutely perfect. We slept in… Had lunch at home while we watched UK win the SEC title… Took a long walk through Cherokee Park… Made a delicious stir-fry dinner… And enjoyed a bottle of champagne that we received as a wedding gift and yummy vegan dessert cakes (homemade by your’s truly) while looking through our wedding pictures (all 878 of them), remembering what an amazing day our wedding day was.
Here is a picture of our sweet little set up.
We used our champagne flutes that were a wedding gift from my Aunt Christy. She gave us these to use for our wedding toast and all of our future anniversary toasts. They are engraved with our monogram “T-N-K” and our wedding date “3-13-10”. They are absolutely beautiful and I loved getting to use them to celebrate our anniversary.
My Aunt Phyllis gave us an amazing anniversary gift. It’s in the background of the picture. She used one of my favorite photos from our wedding and had it put onto canvas. The quote in the corner reads “I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am with you.” I love this quote and truly believe that it represents our relationship. Being with Kyle makes me happier than I can even express with words, and he makes me a better person.
In celebrating our anniversary, Kyle and I broke with tradition. Although we did save the top layer of our wedding cake, we didn’t eat a slice last night. Since our wedding, I’ve become vegan, and having a piece of our cake would go against that. But even if that wasn’t the case, I don’t know that we could have eaten it. It didn’t preserved very well, and I think if we had eaten it, we’d still be in bed today trying not to die of food poisoning or something! It just didn’t look good! So rather than having our wedding cake, I decided to make dessert cakes that we could have instead. I made pineapple cupcakes with a sugar glaze and sliced pineapple on top. They were tasty…vegan…and fresh!
It was definitely the most perfect first anniversary we could hope for, and I absolutely love my “Life as Mrs. Newman”!
Until next time…
