Fall = Fun + Family + Farms

Fall is definitely one of my most favorites times of the year--the beautiful colors of the leaves, the crisp chill in the air, and of course everything pumpkin!  This fall has been especially enjoyable for me, and last weekend was no exception!
My Saturday was dedicated to spending quality time with my ADORABLE sister-in-law, Madison. And let me tell you, it was the ultimate girls' night! We made a trip to Target, where we stocked up on everything--popcorn, candy, princess masks, and more!
We made our princess masks which I must say were pretty awesome!
We also played "beauty salon" and I received the total pampering treatment! I had my hair and nails done. Check out my awesome manicure!
We ended the night with popcorn and a movie, and guess who was the first to fall asleep... ME!  That girl totally wore me out! :)

On Sunday morning, we got together with my family and visited Huber's Family Farm in Indiana. Madison loved every minute of it! We got to take a carriage ride in a pumpkin-shaped carriage just like Cinderella. If you knew Madison's obsession with Disney princesses you would realize how exciting this was for her!

She also got to go on a pony ride...
Play in the kids' playground...
And picked a painted pumpkin that she loved.
We had so much fun spending time at the farm and if you ever get the chance to visit Huber's, you definitely should! It was so nice to get to spend time with Madison too--We definitely don't get to spend enough time with her.  We had so much fun with her, and by the looks of this picture, she had a pretty good time too!

Until next time...

Easy-Peasy Teacher Appreciation Gifts

My little bits just finished up her first year of preschool (PS1) last week, and just started her second year (PS2) this week.  Her first year at her school was nothing short of amazing, and I'm so happy with our decision to start her in the program last August.  Her teachers for PS1 were the best, so I wanted to give them a little something to show our appreciation and gratitude for all of the love, time, and patience they poured into our girl over the past 12 months.  I wanted to keep it simple, and give them something that they could appreciate and actually use, and eventually decided on a small succulent arrangement and a Starbucks gift card.  Because who isn't obsessed with succulents and coffee  right now always?!? I put the succulent arrangements together myself, and I love the way they turned out!  I picked up the white planters at Hobby Lobby for around $5 each.  The succulents came from Home Depot (their selection was HUGE) and ranged in...

Foodie Friday: Carrot Cake Gone Clean

I think I’ve just died and gone to carrot cake heaven! And the best part? I get to devour this entire plate guilt-free, because it’s clean and on my nutrition plan! HELLLLLLS YEAH!    A fellow fitness coach friend of mine shared this yummy recipe in our virtual fit group, and I can't get enough of it!  It's clean, healthy, and oh so simple, which makes it perfect for a delicious pre- or post-workout snack.  It's packed with veggies, protein, and healthy carbs, so all of your macros are covered.  And BONUS... You can make it into muffins for a quick grab-n-go option!  Just when I think this plan can’t get any better, I come across treats like this one that change the game!  And t hat’s what I LOVE about most about my business and these fit groups--Not only can I  count on my ladies for support and encouragement, but it offers us a place to swap healthy recipes and share tips and tricks to stay on track.  Basically, what I'm trying to sa...

Becoming a Runner: Challenge Complete!

I’m finished! I did it!  I completed my 30-Day Beginner’s Running Challenge, and am only about 2 weeks late in reporting it to you (we've had a crazy couple of weeks in the Newman household, so please don't hold it against me)!  It took me a little more than 30 days to complete… More like 44, but who’s counting, right?  I’m a little disappointed that it took me longer than the intended 30 days, but I’m still so proud of myself for making the decision to change my lifestyle and to make myself a runner.  I feel better about myself, I have more confidence in my abilities, and I truly enjoy running now. In the end, it took me 6 weeks (and 2 days) to complete my challenge.  Going into Week 6, I had 5 runs to finish.  I only ran 3 days that week, which is why it took me 2 days into Week 7 to complete the remaining 2 runs. Here’s what I did for Weeks 6 and 7 (January 25 – February 2): Day 36 (1.25.15): Rest Day 37 (1.26.15): Rest Day 38 (1.27....
