The Christmas Crafting Continues...

After finishing the yarn wreath that had previously posted about, I was ready to take on my next crafting task.  I tried to think about something that we really needed and wanted to have, but that would also be quick and easy to make.  I scoured the internet for ideas, and of course my good friend Pinterest led me to the perfect idea! I would make a Christmas tree skirt for our tree!  We didn’t have one (last year I just used a big piece of red fabric that I had in my craft box), so I instantly headed to Hobby Lobby to pick out the perfect fabric.

I used this tutorial, and finished the skirt over two days (about 5 hours total).  I bought a cheap $1 tree skirt from the Dollar Tree to use as the base pattern to follow.  I decided on red and white fabric to give the skirt the look of a candy cane and used a little less than 4 yards of each color to complete the whole project.
So a cheap tree skirt, 4 yards of fabric, a hot glue gun with LOTS of glue sticks, and a few hours and many burned finger tips later, I had this masterpiece:
And I’m in love, love, love with it!  This is definitely my favorite project so far (not that I have all that many to compete with it) and I just had to share it with you!

I hope your holiday season is bringing you lots of Christmas cheer!
Until next time…

  1. Trisha, this is absolutely adorable!! I can't believe you made it with a glue gun. I burned my finger so badly making a yarn monogram a few weeks ago and I can totally feel your pain. I think I'm still scarred!!

Easy-Peasy Teacher Appreciation Gifts

My little bits just finished up her first year of preschool (PS1) last week, and just started her second year (PS2) this week.  Her first year at her school was nothing short of amazing, and I'm so happy with our decision to start her in the program last August.  Her teachers for PS1 were the best, so I wanted to give them a little something to show our appreciation and gratitude for all of the love, time, and patience they poured into our girl over the past 12 months.  I wanted to keep it simple, and give them something that they could appreciate and actually use, and eventually decided on a small succulent arrangement and a Starbucks gift card.  Because who isn't obsessed with succulents and coffee  right now always?!? I put the succulent arrangements together myself, and I love the way they turned out!  I picked up the white planters at Hobby Lobby for around $5 each.  The succulents came from Home Depot (their selection was HUGE) and ranged in...

My Two and a Half Year Blogging Hiatus

Hey there!  It's been a while since my last post--two and a half years, but who's counting?  As it often does, life got a little crazy, and blogging got pushed to the back burner.  But I've recently had an itch to start writing again. So here I am. I've missed it. And a lot has changed in our lives since I last wrote.  So let me bring you up to speed... I got a promotion at work, and am now the pharmacy manager of a local retail pharmacy. My husband is working to make his dream of being a full-time photographer a reality.  He's insanely talented, and the fact that he's completely self-taught amazes me! You can check out some of his work HERE . I've taken up photography as well, under my hunky husband's guidance, and I now photograph weddings alongside him.   Our beautiful mess of a daughter is THREE years old (where did that time go???).  She is incredible, and smart, and funny, and her zest for life is inspiring. We added a fur-bab...
